How are these terms related-Shaolin,Wushu and Kung Fu?

Shaolin = relating to the shaolin temple which is the origin for a lot of kung fu styles allegedly.

Wushu is often used to describe an atheletic, showey style of kung fu developed as an art form but less combative than some martial arts - I%26#039;m sure it has other meanings too though.

Kung fu - tends to be used as a catch all term for chinese martial arts. Its supposed to mean %26quot;hard work%26quot; or time spent or something like that.

Hope this helps|||First off, they are all Chinese and all related to martial arts on some level.

Shaolin: Literally %26quot;Young Forest%26quot;, is the name of a Buddhist temple famous for their excellent martial arts and warrior monks who were thought at time to be the greatest fighters. it is widely believed that the all sophisticated martial arts originated from the Shaolin monostary.

Wushu: Wushu is the Chinese word that would mean %26quot;martial arts%26quot; but usually refers to a sport martial art that is popular in china that is termed Contemporary Wushu.

Kung Fu: Kung Fu is a Chinese term meaning something along the lines of %26quot;Skill attained through hard work or over time%26quot;. It has come to refer to martial arts skills, or, in America, to refer to Chinese martial external styles in general. But it could refer to any skill. For example, a the ability to write well is a writer%26#039;s Kung Fu.|||They can all refer to and are linked with chinese martial arts.

That%26#039;s how they%26#039;re related.
