Wushu is it woth spending time n money or NOO?

can i use Wushu to self defence(counter attack), in other words harm someone, with punches and kicks like other martial arts, honestly what iam seeing through videos is only gymnastic jumps and flips.

1- is it affective during a real fight(street fight)

2-makes my body stronger by being able to observe alot of kicks n punches like (muyai thai)

3- do i need to be thin and flexiable to be good in wushu.

am 84kg and 1.89cm,|||By Wushu I can assume you mean the performance martial art and not actual Kung Fu (which does mean hard work, but lets not nit pick we all know what it means).

Sadly the many high leaps and kicks themselves do have little use in a fight on their own. However, the physical benefits gained from doing a performance art such as Capoiera or Wushu are amazing. Too much time is devoted to the development of the skill and too little to the development for the individual to take part in the skill. You will gain balance, coordination, speed, and flexibility. Vital characteristics of a good martial artist.

But that is only after you%26#039;ve developed good basics. If you are looking strictly for self defense do not take performance Wushu. In the end when you spar (if they even spar in those classes), you will just re-adopt your natural kick boxers stance as the other stances either don%26#039;t allow you enough free movement or leave your body unprotected.

If your looking for good Kung Fu arts that are combat based. Wing Chun, Southern Praying Mantis, and Sanshou have made names for themselves in fights.|||learn jiu jitsu and or systema instead.|||depends if its taolu%26quot;forms%26quot; wushu like drunken monkey its mainly used for performance

however if its sanda%26quot;sparring%26quot; wushu like sanshou then yea it will be more practical for self denfense.

this may be a slightly gross generalization but sanshou resembles muay thai mixed with judo. its striking along with throws and takedowns(but no ground fighting...depending on the rules to you may or may not use elbows and knees)

please comment and critique!

thank you!|||Yea it%26#039;s not bad. Keep up the good work:)

Perhaps a bit more work on the synchronisation.

Like always, there%26#039;s room for improvement though.

Snap, speed, strength ...and everything else your master/s probably has told you about.|||it looks good but as its a performance art you would expect it to, as some master say dont expect to do the stuff to see on the tv, real kung fu isnt flashy is direct unglamorious and straing to the point.

i say one of them do a butterflykick i think its called. it looks really good ans i like when they do that kick and put a 360 turn in it but when i see people in my class doing it, i say to do that kick on my and i will just stand there with my hands behind my back and they dont, and i explain that if they actually hit me with that kick i wont get hurt but they will doa face plant, a while ago 1 guy in is early 20s did do that kick on my and it wasnt a prity landing. he hit the floors spinning chest first and there was a sickening thud, it brused his ribs really badly for the next 2 weeks or so

but i do like seeing wushu i prefer the solo wushu stuff then the group stuff at the start, it was just a bit of a dance routine|||assalamu %26#039;alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh...

that%26#039;s good actually, you can protect you by yourself. just stick on it if you do. i was a member of Jet Kun Do , like Jet Kun Do, but i stooped coz many problem appearing to me..so, it%26#039;s ok. i had gotten a little training to protect myself.

have fun with ur activities..wassalalmu %26#039;alaik.|||looks nice but that crap doesnt work for real life fighting

Need help learning Martial Arts, Kung Fu (Wushu)?

I want to learn Wushu, but I have no time to go to classes (And there aren%26#039;t any in my area anyway). Is there any way I learn online?|||There are many websites which will %26quot;teach you to be a kung fu master in 30 days%26quot; and other such nonsense. I would be very cautious of these websites. Although videos and books are a great source of inspiration and additional information, they should only really be used as a supplement to hands on training from a qualified professional.

I have been studying various martial arts since I was 13, and I have quite a collection of martial texts and instructional videos. They are a great help for refining my skills, as well as incorporating new skills into my style, however, these are not enough to learn properly. I have tried incorporating particular moves while sparring, only to realise that they need %26#039;tweaking%26#039; in order to be applied in a fight.

It would be dangerous to rely soley on a discipline learned via the internet for self defense. Even in the rural location (not even a town) where I grew up, there was a karate school which traveled to the country towns and taught in town halls and school gyms. If there isn%26#039;t a martial arts school already doing this in your area, perhaps it would be worth suggesting it to a local martial arts school.

Hope it works out for you.|||Uh yeah, sure... and you can learn to be a carpenter without ever swinging a hammer.|||no it will be hard to learn online. I would guess you will need to travel to to other state to learn them it you really want to do it. You can also hire a private master to teach you.|||no sorry, you%26#039;re screwed|||What is your area? Are you sure?

I had joined wushu class but now i had suspended to program,i had given fees what should i do?

i had joined wushu classes i go 1 day ,i also give 300 rs to him

but now due to my studies i cant able to go there and had suspended the practice

i am feeling shame to get return my fees, should i get my fees back?

or i should leave my money|||No, you don%26#039;t get your money back. Your teacher has to pay the rent, it%26#039;s not his fault your schdule changed. To get your money%26#039;s worth juggle your schedule to train as much as you can, but don%26#039;t expect a refund|||Just go and talk to them, I have no doubt that you can work something out. Either get your money back or they should be able to give you credit to come back into the class when your schedule frees up again. Having taught myself I have run into this kind of thing many times, it really shouldn%26#039;t be a big deal. I have returned money to students even when by law I didn%26#039;t have to because they had already signed their contract and therefore legally it was their issue not mine. In my honest opinion though it shouldn%26#039;t come down to a legal and monetary thing, at least I never let it be that way myself.

Just go and talk to them it should be easy enough to settle. You may not get 100% of your money back, such as if the school belongs to a larger organization then they have had to pay a portion of your money on to them and you in all likely hood won%26#039;t get that portion back but otherwise it%26#039;s shouldn%26#039;t be an issue.

|||get your money back. there%26#039;s no shame in that. i had to do the same thing when i got injured and could not go to class.

at the very least, they should give you credit when you do go back.

now, if they are not offering classes, it should be a no brainer that you get money back. if they don%26#039;t, take them to court!

hope this helps|||ummm get ur $$$$ ASAP! Just explain to him what happened and say you would like a refund and will try to take the classes again at a later date -- |||Take them to Judge Judy!

E

Are their any place i can study wushu in toowoomba qld or places near

I wish to study wushu around the toowoomba area had a look on the net but couldnt rlly find anything just wondering if any 1 is/has studied it around this area thanx|||I don%26#039;t know where that is (guessing Queensland Australia, but...), but I thought I would give you some ideas...

1. Try searching for larger wushu associations. Contact them and ask about classes near there.

2. Try a phone book or other paper print sources.

3. Try contacting some Chinese association or cultural centers. They may have private lessons or small classes that do not advertise...

Good luck!
