Wushu is it woth spending time n money or NOO?

can i use Wushu to self defence(counter attack), in other words harm someone, with punches and kicks like other martial arts, honestly what iam seeing through videos is only gymnastic jumps and flips.





1- is it affective during a real fight(street fight)


2-makes my body stronger by being able to observe alot of kicks n punches like (muyai thai)


3- do i need to be thin and flexiable to be good in wushu.


am 84kg and 1.89cm,|||By Wushu I can assume you mean the performance martial art and not actual Kung Fu (which does mean hard work, but lets not nit pick we all know what it means).





Sadly the many high leaps and kicks themselves do have little use in a fight on their own. However, the physical benefits gained from doing a performance art such as Capoiera or Wushu are amazing. Too much time is devoted to the development of the skill and too little to the development for the individual to take part in the skill. You will gain balance, coordination, speed, and flexibility. Vital characteristics of a good martial artist.





But that is only after you%26#039;ve developed good basics. If you are looking strictly for self defense do not take performance Wushu. In the end when you spar (if they even spar in those classes), you will just re-adopt your natural kick boxers stance as the other stances either don%26#039;t allow you enough free movement or leave your body unprotected.





If your looking for good Kung Fu arts that are combat based. Wing Chun, Southern Praying Mantis, and Sanshou have made names for themselves in fights.|||learn jiu jitsu and or systema instead.|||depends if its taolu%26quot;forms%26quot; wushu like drunken monkey its mainly used for performance


however if its sanda%26quot;sparring%26quot; wushu like sanshou then yea it will be more practical for self denfense.





this may be a slightly gross generalization but sanshou resembles muay thai mixed with judo. its striking along with throws and takedowns(but no ground fighting...depending on the rules to you may or may not use elbows and knees)
