I%26#039;m thinking of joining up, the Grandmaster has over 35 years experience...he teaches Muay Thai, Tai Chi, Wing Chun and Wushu
I was wondering what is he most likely to me first (or just get me to stretch and stretch)...I have no previous experience in martial arts|||Yes you will have to do alot of stretching and warming up and learn what the commands mean, but he first thing to any martial art technique is good stances. horse riding stance, front stance backstance and fighting stances are the basis for what will come next like punches and then kicks. Just empty your mind of all the kungfu movie crap you%26#039;ve seen and do exactly what the instructor says and dont be afraid to ask %26quot; am I doing this right%26quot; . He will be proud of your enthusiasm|||Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
when I first started donig anything
first thing you learn is stance, before you do kicks and punches and all those stuff, you learn how to stay on your damn feet.
first month, he made me run up and down the stairs,, it was a 10 story building
no break, wall sits, leg raises, pushups, side crunches
take like a 30 second break
then he made us take our stance, then he would shove and push us, after a while, you get a good balance, it takes longer for some people. for about a week, i fell every time, but aftewards, he wouldn%26#039;t be able to push me down (unless he uses a takedown with his whole body or something)
then he taught us the moves, i wasn%26#039;t learning any of the martial arts you listed, i was doing something else.
he taught us the forms, first it was defense, how to block
then how to attack
then how to combine both and use counters
by the way, you will be stretching, warming up, and doing strength exercises ALL THE TIME.|||I think he%26#039;ll ask you to warm yourself up first then , he%26#039;ll teach you then 4 types of kicks. Front, Outward, Inward and Side. Then it%26#039;s the leg stances and moves.
From then the forms. and then much later the attack and defensive moves.|||You%26#039;d better ask your teacher but he will probably teach you the basics like Bow stance and Horse stance. And then introduce you to Changquan.
